One finds inspiration where one can!
While I’ve covered how fashion photographs can inspire modern days artists, sometimes many other things populate an artist’s mind and can be reused or reinterpreted in their work. Things like let’s say…movies, other’s peoples art and many more. Here’s a list of a few pieces and the obvious inspiration behind it:
This particular ScarletGothica piece was clearly drawn with Lucy Westenra’s character from 1992′s “Bram Stroker’s Dracula” in mind. The opulent Eiko Ishioka outfit is pretty much a dead giveaway.

Sarah Joncas painting “The All Seeing I” has a touch of “Pan Labyrinth” although her work is much more appealing and not so yucky looking!

Ana Bagayan‘s Silence is a clear allusion to the Silence of the Lambs movie poster. And of course, as I’ve mentioned before, that poster also did its share of borrowing from Dali’s oeuvre.

Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous dame “Mona Lisa” found quirky counterparts in Fernando Botero’s and David Ho‘s handywork

Gabrielle d’Estrees nipple grabbing proves to be quite popular as seen by yet another take by Yosuke Ueno‘s hands

Andrew Zip Leipzig‘s uses Vermeer‘s “The Milkmaid” to spread his robot mania

Leonor Fini’s painting “The ends of the earth” spreads its wings and moves away from Madonna territory (as mentioned here before) and get an homage courtesy of Nicoletta Ceccoli

Charles Allan Gilbert optical illusion piece “All Is Vanity” as rethought by Mijn Schatje

Gustave Klimt‘s “The Kiss” is also a clear artist’s favorite as seen on Jeremiah Ketner‘s rethought version
