Blondes may have all the fun, but redheads are the painterly muses (which may help explain why when all girls have always wanted to be blondes, I wanted to be a redhead, but alas the color does not particularly suit my complexion). I’ve already mentioned several Julianne’s Moores dallyings into art recreation, but even before that, back in her Botox free days (more precisely in 1999), Nicole Kidman also had her fair share of muse mode. Teaming with Steven Meisel for Vogue, they went about recreating the work of celebrated portrait painter John Singer Sargent.
Madame X, 1884 (also recreated by Julianne Moore as seen here)
Now considered one of his best works, its unveiling at the time was surrounded in controversy.
