Regardless of whether one likes her or not, one has to admit Madonna is a musical trailblazer in a whole lot of things. Rihanna may have just been sued for copying LaChapelle’s work, but Madonna can say “been there, done that” with great aplomb!
Her 2003 video for the track “Hollywood” directed by Jean Baptiste Mondino was also the object of a lawsuit.
The son of legendary French photographer Guy Bourdin (who died in 1991 at age 62) alleged that Madonna’s video was filled almost entirely with reenactments of his father’s distinctively racy images.
“It’s one thing to draw inspiration; it’s quite another to simply plagiarize the heart and soul of my father’s work,” said Samuel Bourdin in a press release.
Eventually they reached a settlement for an undisclosed amount, which is what I think will also happen in the Rihanna/LaChapelle case.
And now for your entertainment here’s the video:
And some relevant Bourdin pics:

Oh- Now this one I can agree 100% that Madonna Plagiarized the images… the color schemes, the poses, the visuals are all adaptations from Bourdin’s work. And the video isn’t some sort of play on a scene. ;)

Totally, this one is pretty unquestionable, because unlike the whole fetish/S&M thing this has no other reference point you could consider!
