More Simon Procter! My last post gave me an excuse to ransack Simon Procter’s portfolio and this particular series is soooo over the top in its superb decadence and opulence that it would almost be a crime for me not to feature it.
Based on Italian renaissance painter Paolo Uccello‘s battle scene triptych, The Battle of San Romano, the series represents a celebration of 10 years of Gallianos’ Haute Couture work at Christian Dior.
Commissioned by Harper’s Bazaar, the shoot involved a team of over 40 people, and the post production alone, took over 6 months with an estimated cost of half a million dollars. It is, to this date, one of the most ambitious non commercial projects of its kind.
Since its first presentation at the Fashion Photo Maimi Basel December in 2008, the project has been shown in many Galleries, exhibitions and museums worldwide to great acclaim.
If you have really deep pockets, or feel really generous (my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks lol) pieces of this shot in large and gigantic format are available for sale at Art Photo Expo.
