Somber mood, it’s all about the mood and any of these videos reeks and oozes truckloads of it, and they’re all tracks I think would fit very well in a halloween playlist.
How to Destroy Angels – The Space in Between
One of the latest brainchildren of Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, with his new wifey, their marriage doesn’t seem to hold very well for this video’s purpose. Because it wasn’t enough for the couple to get shot, they’re also set on fire.
Massive Attack feat. Martina Topley Bird – Psyche
I’m a big Massive Attack, I’ve seen them play live about 4 times now, I believe, and I’m also a Martina fan from back in her Tricky days, but for some reason this was the track of their latest album that I just wasn’t feeling. They apparently decided to win me over with the video instead (I’m quite sure the video wasn’t made with that intent in mind, but alas it was a side effect), a little girl’s journey with some ghostly friends. Quite frankly, the girl’s demeanor and piercing eyes are way creepier and scarier then the ghost themselves.
Bat for Lashes – What’s a Girl To Do
And I just can’t watch that last video without thoughts of this one immediately stirring in my mind…they both provoke the same kind of eerie feeling, just replace ghosts with animal masked fellas and voilá (Natasha Khan is way less creepy than the other girl though).
