As I’ve pointed out before, elaborate videos as a method of fashion showcasing is a growing trend. Here are a couple more, these ones with a surrealist twist (kinda remind me of some of the cute H&M ones I’ve feature before).
Made to promote Vena Cava‘s lower-priced T-shirt collection, the quirky video jumps from scenario to scenario and stars among others, singers Annie Clark of St. Vincent (whose music, I just happen to love) and Eleanor Friedberger of The Fiery Furnaces. Eleanor seems to be a busy girl in the field of fashion, she was one of the faces of Miu Miu a few years ago and she also stars in another fashion short for brand VPL, which can be seen in Nowness.
Commissioned by Dazed & Confused and written & directed by Alex Turvey, this short takes inspiration from Dr Frankenstein who took parts from different bodies to make a new being. Here, a macabre sequence of events sees fashion follow suit, leading to a surreal and transformational climax.
