I love having having attire with illustrations by surreal or quirky artists and illustrators (I recently got me a Laura Laine tshirt with this print at H&M), so the fact that All Saints is collaborating with Laurie Lipton in a set of tshirts is just my cup of tea.
Laurie, whose work has been exhibited extensively throughout Europe and the USA, was born in New York, but now lives in London. She began drawing at the age of four and tried to teach herself how to paint in the style of the 17th century Dutch Masters but failed. When traveling around Europe as a student (though she now lives in London, she also lived in Holland, Belgium, Germany and France), she began developing her very own peculiar drawing technique: building up tone with thousands of fine cross-hatching lines.
Lipton was inspired by the religious paintings of the Flemish School, but she added her own sarcastic and ironic twist, which we all now can wear on our chests!
My birthday is comin’ up soon, so if anyone feels like giving me something, any of the first 3 tees would be more than welcome :D
