As I’ve mentioned before I love this lady’s work (both my current wallpapers at work and home are with her work), so, in a way it’s odd I haven’t dedicated a full post to her, but there’s no better time than the present, so here you go!
Tara McPherson was named the crown princess of poster art by ELLE, her universe a cross between a Space Channel 5 videogame and a goth Magritte. Barbed hearts, bleeding chest wounds, love in all its chaos – her art is fabulous in its broken-hearted optimism.
She was the Vice President of the astronomy club at school and even started studying for an astrophysics degree, but she eventually dropped to pursue a career in arts. Not entirely though, as her love for space soars in her work, as she illustrates her characters under starry skies, wearing spaceman-like helmets.
One of her main outlets are music posters (she has done work for Beck, Modest Mouse amongst others) but her array of work also includes painted comics, toy design, advertising illustrations, etc.
