And something a little softer for Easter, something you can share with the family while look perfectly well manered and educated: some covers that resort to classical mannerisms to give them some extra flair.

Ladyhawke – Womanizer
Britney’s back or so it appears, because everybody and their cats are churning out covers of this song. Ladyhawke‘s version has some ghoulish wails and violins making it sound like something out of a horror chase. Also great fun is Franz Ferdinand’s version who inject their typical dance punk attitude into the track.
Anni Rossi – Creep (via Music Addiction)
I never understood why Radiohead freak out so much with this track, particularly because they’ve long shown their chops that prove that this was not a fluke. They prefer to act as if this song isn’t even theirs and very seldom do they perform it live, even though it’s so many people’s favorite. Well, in the meantime, people like Anni Rossi bring their own flavor to the song, and I just find this particular one, absolutely charming!
Hot Chip – One Pure Thought (Geese Remix)
Not actually a cover but a remix, Geese take this dancier track and turn it upside down, creating a mellower and much subtler vibe.
