Coming up with a totally unique catwalk show is getting pretty hard these days, so it seems the next frontier is clearly virtual!
Earlier this year, fashion duo Viktor & Rolf decided, that instead of their usual physical fashion showing, for their Spring Summer collection, they would only release a video for it. Available from their website, the only model featured was Shalom Harlow, but thanks to modern technology, she had several simultaneous appearances.
Gotta say, I thought they could have done a lot more with this post-production wise, cause this clearly lended itself to some pretty nifty effects. In the end, it turned out to be a pretty normal catwalk show, we just got to seem the same person over and over. Loved the geometrical b&w tights though :)
Designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac however, clearly decided to take this idea further, and joined forces with Lego to create a virtual catwalk made entirely of Lego toys.
Shown during the Paris Fashion Week in several tv channels, this was made by French agency Four H. Unlike Viktor & Rolf, this was not meant as the centerpiece of the collection, but even in its Lego form, clearly reflected the actual catwalk show, which you can see here.
Totally cute, and spot the Anna Wintour (in both her devil and actual persona) and Kanye West cameos!
